Spiro

This dance is from the Macedonian Region of southwest Bulgaria.  It is popular in the Petrich area.  The name of the dance comes from a popular song of Macedonia.  Spiro is a man's name.

 

Petur Iliev learned this dance from an old village dancer from Petrich in 1986.

FORMATION:

Open circle holding hands in "W" formation

 

 

STYLE:

Very strong style.  Men and women dance together.
